LANDLORDS: ARE YOUR TENANTS PAYING THE HIGHER DOMESTIC TARIFF FOR THEIR WATER AND ELECTRIC?

Landlords: Are your tenants paying the higher Domestic tariff for their water and electric?

Did you know that if you sign Form H (the change in number of persons declaration) your tenants will be eligible for the lower residential rate?

Of course, you may not want to sign Form H but if you do not, your tenants may take their lease to ARMS, and along with a one-off payment of €466; apply for a temporary account in their name (Form F2: Tempory recognition of tenant in rented premises), and thereby go onto the lower residential rate.

However, this may be no bad thing for landlords because it shifts the onus to pay the bills onto the tenant, and they will also be liable for any outstanding amounts should they leave.
